Born in Cornwall, Daisy Pearce became obsessed with horror at far too young of an age and has been fascinated ever since. She remembers reading ‘Cujo’ by Stephen King when she was younger, and he has grown to be one of her influences. Over the years, Shirley Jackson and Gillian Flynn have been added to that list of influences within her writing.
She began writing short stories as a teenager, with the first one called ‘The Black Prince’ published in One Eye Grey Magazine. Another one of her short stories was performed on stage at the Small Story Cabaret in Lewes in 2016.
In 2015, her first full-length novel won a bursary with The Literary Consultancy, and later that year Pearce won the Chindi Authors Competition with another short story titled ‘Worm Food’. Her second novel was longlisted for the Mslexia Novel Award.
Daisy currently works at the library at the University of Sussex, surrounded by books and true-crime podcasts.

The Silence

The Silence won a bursary with The Literary Consultancy for its spectacular storytelling and psychologically thrilling plotlines.
Centering on Stella Wiseman — a former child actress who has now been left in the shadows, working a dead-end job with no hope to get back to the stardom she desires.
Until she meets Marco. He may be older, but he is kind, rich and willing to take her in until she gets back on her feet. In a secluded cottage, she begins to question what’s real, and whether she was wrong to trust him.

The Missing

Longlisted for the Mslexia Novel Award, this novel is more into the mystery genre than her first. Edie Hudson’s disappearance was barely noticed by her community. Her mother Samantha, bared witness to how little the people around her seemed to care. Hope ignites when she meets Frances, a wife obsessed with the mystery of Edie’s disappearance after finding a picture of her husband with the girl.
Can they find out what happened all of those years ago without getting found first?

Something in the Walls

Her first widely sold novel, Something in the Walls is evidence of how far her writing has come. Set in a melting heatwave in English summertime, child psychologist Mina makes a choice that she knows will ruin her already-crumbling engagement to Oscar. She follows alongside a journalist to a small town in which thirteen-year-old Alice claims a witch is haunting her. Mina must determine the real cause of these beliefs, and convince Alice, and the townspeople, that there is a scientific cause for these experiences.
But instead, Mina finds herself dealing with the potential of the impossible, and begins to question her own past.

Dark is When the Devil Comes

Her most recent publication, Dark is When the Devil Comes is set in the small town of Idless in the English Countryside. Hazel is forced to return after her divorce, and she must patch things up with her sister, Cathy.
However, when Hazel doesn’t show, Cathy is put into a precarious situation. Their relationship has never been simple, but she knows Hazel wouldn’t bail before getting here.
All roads lead back to the woods, and Cathy knows that if you go looking for trouble, you’ll find it.
